The department of Savoie encompasses the central section of the French Alps in Eastern France. Dramatic scenery greets you at every turn in this wonderful region that takes in many of the major Alpine skiing resorts, including Val d'Isere, Tignes, Courchevel and Val Thoren. The mountains rise up to incredible heights here, and are just as popular in the summer months with hikers and rock-climbers, as they are in the winter months. If you're looking for French property with all year round rental potential, Savoie is the place to find it!
Chambery in the west of the region is the capital of the Savoie area. It sits to the south of Bourget Lake close to Aix les Bains and is where many travellers and Savoie property hunters arrive in the region, courtesy of its airport on the lake's southern perimeter. It is less than a 90-minute drive from Chambery to the furthest ski resort in the area, which is Val d'Isere.
There is a diverse assortment of Savoie property available for sale across the region. Apartments, ski chalets and villas of course abound in and around the ski resorts in the area. There is also a constant stream of new French property developments coming on-line all the time in Savoie, some of which belong to the French government leaseback scheme. One of the most exclusive areas in which to buy Savoie property is in Val d'Isere village. Here, a 4-room villa in France will cost around 1,200,000 euros.
