The town of Nevers stands on a bend of the Loire River in the department of Nievre in Burgundy (Bourgogne). It is a historic town packed full of churches, palaces and old blue slate roofed buildings with pale whitewashed exteriors. French property for sale in the town spans a range of architectural styles, including gothic, renaissance and art-deco designs - perfect if you're looking for that grand manor house in Burgundy.
The Loire River that flows past Nevers is a navigable stretch of waterway. Barges and pleasure craft can be hired out at Nevers, allowing you access to miles of beautiful countryside along the network of canals and rivers in this part of France. It is possible to travel over to Bourges and Vierzon in Cher using the waterways, as well as to Dijon and down into the Beaujolais region of Burgundy.
Not far from Nevers is the Magny Cours racing circuit. This hosts the French leg of the World Formula One championship every year, as well as many other motor sports events. Magny Cours is 7km south of Nevers on the N7 road.
Nevers property is very affordable. A 4-bed villa in France in a quiet district of Nevers costs from around 150,000 euros. There is even cheaper Nevers property in need of renovation available across the town and in the surrounding countryside too. A partly renovated 6-bed French property with land to the west of Nevers was recently on the market for just 116,000 euros.
