The small Mediterranean town of Narbonne is situated in the department of Aude in the Languedoc Roussillon. It is a popular tourist destination that is within easy reach of Beziers and Perpignan, as well as being less than a 10-minute drive away from the beaches of the Mediterranean. The airports at Perpignan and Beziers provide the town with a continuous influx of foreign tourists and people looking to buy French property in the Languedoc.
The Canal de Robine passes through the centre of Narbonne. It is a branch of the Canal du Midi, which stretches from the Languedoc up to Bordeaux to the west of France. Canal boats can be hired in the area to cruise the canal network. You could even cruise to Bordeaux if you wanted to!
Foreign property buyers will find a mix of Narbonne property styles in the town and the surrounding countryside. In the centre of Narbonne there is Mediterranean style French property with pastel coloured facades. The majority of Narbonne property found for sale though are the apartments and villas of a more modern construction. On the coastline close to Narbonne are Narbonne Plage and St Pierre sur Mer, both of which are ideal locations in which to search for a villa in France overlooking the Mediterranean.
