The city of Le Havre is situated on the North coast of France in Upper Normandy where the River Seine meets the sea some 125 miles after leaving the suburbs of Paris. It is well known for its seaport, which is the busiest in France, and for its stunning views of the Calvados coastline. There is a direct ferry service to Portsmouth in England from Le Havre, attracting many day-trippers and French property hunters from Southern England to the area. There is also a regional airport located to the north of the city, granting access to Le Havre property buyers from further afield.
Le Havre is a top-notch European seaside resort as well as a centre for maritime tourism. The town boasts an excellent stretch of sandy beach and a world class yachting marina, along with several other maritime attractions. In 1999 the town was awarded the much coveted tourist label.
Many Le Havre property hunters commence their search for French property in the countryside to the north-east of the city. Here, there are many fine small villages and hamlets offering a wealth of exquisite property. Along the coast, the area between Etretat and Fecamp provide secluded locations in which to buy a villa in France with a sea view.
