The department of Isere is situated in the Rhone Alps region of Southeast France. Landscape-wise, it is one of the most diverse departments in France. Isere takes in some of the highest peaks of the French Alps, spectacular rock formations, beautiful lakes and forests, as well as the shallow undulating plains that lead down to the Rhone Valley and one of the oldest wine-growing regions in France. The main international airport that serves the region is located just outside Lyon. There are smaller regional airports at Voiron (close to Grenoble) and at Chambery in the Savoie region. There is also a good motorway link between Lyon and Grenoble, providing access to the far east of the department within a couple of hours.
For French property hunters, the choice of location in which to buy Isere property is astounding. You could have a luxury villa in France near the ancient Roman city of Vienne, or a vineyard with gites along the main wine-growing area of the Rhone Valley.
