Chamonix occupies a prime valley position in the heart of the French Alps between Mont Blanc and the Aiguilles Rouges mountain range. During the summer, as the snow line recedes up Mont Blanc, Chamonix takes on a completely different role. Given Chamonix's popularity and potential rental opportunities, Chamonix property is surprisingly good value, especially when compared to the other premier resort of Val d'Isere. A studio apartment in the centre of Chamonix that can sleep 2-3 people can be acquired for around 80,000 euros. If rented out, this type of Chamonix property would command weekly rental of around 300 euros, making it a superb investment, given that Chamonix is an all year-round resort. Down the road in Les Houches, a 3-room chalet-style villa in France that would sleep up to 6 people can be purchased for around 170,000 euros.
