Arles resides on the banks of the Rhone River in Bouches du Rhone, Southern France. It is the last major settlement that the Rhone River flows through before joining the Mediterranean Sea near Port Fos, and is also considered as the gateway city to the vast Camargue. Arles is not far from Nimes and its neighbour's international airport. This makes Arles highly accessible to tourists and French property hunters looking for an idyllic villa in the south of France.
Arles has an exceptional climate. The city receives more than 2,500 hours of sunshine each year, while its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea keeps it warm and dry for much of the year. Given its gentle weather, it is perhaps not surprising that the Roman Empire placed great importance on Arles some 2,000 years ago. Today, the magnificent Roman amphitheatre and Constantin Baths - both registered with UNESCO - stand as reminders to Arles' Roman past.
There is an astounding array of French property for sale in Arles. Luxury villas, prestige mansions, old townhouses and waterfront Arles property are just some of the types of property that can be found around the town and in the immediate countryside. A 4-bed Arles property in a quiet district of Arles can be acquired for around 240,000 euros. Out in the countryside prices are higher. A 5-bed villa in France with views out over the Camargue will cost 500,000 euros or more.
